Bespoke Engagement & Wedding Rings

A collaborative process of connection, design, and craftsmanship.

Creating a bespoke engagement or wedding ring is not simply about choosing a design. It is about understanding the story behind it — the relationship it represents, the meaning it carries, and the values it reflects.

At CCheesman, bespoke jewellery is a process of connection and co-creation. Each piece is developed through dialogue, guided by experience, and crafted with ethically sourced materials to create something that is both deeply personal and made to last.

The Bespoke Design Process

Every bespoke piece is guided by three principles:

Essence

The meaning behind the ring — your story, your relationship, and what this piece represents.

Expression

Translating that meaning into form through proportion, material, and design language.

Execution

Crafting the final piece with precision, using responsibly sourced materials and expert manufacturing.

This framework ensures that each ring is not only beautiful, but considered at every level.

Step-by-Step: From Idea to Ring

1. Initial Conversation

We begin with a conversation. This can be a call or a written brief, where we explore your ideas, preferences, timeline, and budget.

The focus is on understanding your situation — whether you have a clear vision or are starting from a blank page.

2. Defining the Brief

Together, we define a clear design direction. This includes:

  • Style and aesthetic references
  • Material preferences (gold, platinum, ethical sourcing options)
  • Diamond or gemstone considerations
  • Practical requirements for everyday wear

3. Research & Concept Development

Concepts are developed through sketch and CAD. Proportion, structure, and detail are carefully considered to ensure both beauty and durability.

At this stage, design is not guesswork — it is a process of refinement.

4. Design Presentation

You will be presented with a developed concept, typically through CAD visuals or renders, allowing you to clearly understand the final piece.

Feedback is encouraged, and the design is refined collaboratively.

5. Specification & Approval

Once the design is finalised, full specifications are confirmed, including:

  • Metal choice and sourcing
  • Stone selection and sizing
  • Dimensions and structural details

6. Manufacture

The ring is then crafted by skilled makers, using responsibly sourced materials. Each stage is carefully controlled to ensure precision and quality.

7. Delivery

The finished piece is delivered, ready to be worn and lived with — designed not just for a moment, but for a lifetime.

Ethical Sourcing

Material choice is central to the process.

Depending on your preferences, rings can be made using:

  • Fairtrade or Fairmined gold from artisanal mining communities
  • Recycled gold with known provenance
  • Responsibly sourced or lab-grown diamonds
  • Traceable coloured gemstones

The aim is to align the meaning of the ring with the reality of its origin.

Engagement Rings & Wedding Rings

The bespoke process can be applied to both engagement rings and wedding rings.

For engagement rings, the focus is often on the centre stone, setting design, and long-term wearability.

For wedding rings, the emphasis shifts to proportion, comfort, and how the rings relate to each other — whether designed as a pair or individually.

Who This Is For

Bespoke is suited to those who want:

  • A ring that reflects their relationship, not a standard design
  • Guidance from an experienced designer
  • Clarity around ethical sourcing
  • A piece made with long-term wear and meaning in mind

If you are looking for something fast or purely price-driven, bespoke may not be the right route. But if you are looking for something considered, it offers a depth that ready-made pieces cannot.

Bespoke jewellery is not about adding complexity. It is about removing the unnecessary, until only meaning, proportion, and material remain.

Timelines & Budget

Typical timelines range from 4–8 weeks depending on complexity.

Budgets vary based on materials and design, but clarity is established early in the process to ensure alignment.

The goal is not to maximise cost, but to maximise value — in both material and meaning.
